Lost Wallet or Cash
Don't panic. Here are the steps to take if you've lost your wallet or cash in Japan.
Report to the police
Go to the nearest police box (交番 koban) or police station and file a report. In Japan, lost items are often turned in to the police, so there's a good chance your wallet will be found.
Contact your bank / card issuer
Call your bank's international hotline immediately to freeze your cards. Have your account number or card number ready if possible.
Emergency cash transfer
You can receive emergency cash via Western Union or MoneyGram at convenience stores (7-Eleven, FamilyMart) or post offices across Japan.
Contact your embassy
Your embassy may be able to assist with emergency funds or provide a list of local resources.
